Mission
Develop,
integrate, and advocate Innovative
ideas, practices and resources; to
prepare all children for success in
kindergarten and beyond.
History
The
School Readiness Group evolved out of
Pennsylvania’s nationally acclaimed
Allegheny County Early Child Initiative
(ECI). The aim of ECI was to assure all
children equanimity of early education
social services. Early education
research demonstrates the importance of
all children entering kindergarten
equally prepared. ECI findings made
clear that early health care and
preschool education intervention
significantly reduces disparities in
educational outcomes. Developing
community partnerships that honor every child, every family,
every teacher, and every school district
are paramount in achieving the
educational equity mandated by the
Elementary and Secondary Education Act
of 1965 (ESEA) and the No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB).
