Senate Bills

PA Senate Bill 550 (Sen. Stewart Greenleaf)
Allows school districts to establish kindergarten programs for children between the ages of three and six years old and requires districts that choose to offer kindergarten to make it available to all children who meet the age criteria. Currently, state law provides for programs starting at age four. (pdf)

Allocates funding to urban school districts to institute or expand full-day kindergarten programs, develop or expand preschool for four-year-olds, or develop or expand other early childhood development initiatives such as Head Start. (pdf)


House Bills

PA House Bill 756 (Rep. Jennifer Mann)
Requires all school districts to offer full-day kindergarten for five-year-olds and lowers the compulsory school age from eight to six years old. (pdf)
